Empowering Agri-Farmers and Entrepreneurs: Claudine Niyonsaba’s Success Story

In today’s interconnected world, technology has become a powerful tool for transforming businesses and empowering entrepreneurs. Claudine Niyonsaba, the CEO of Duhahe Online Ltd, has embarked on an incredible journey, linking agri-farmers and production from factories to consumers through her e-commerce platform. But her impact goes beyond the realm of her own business. As a business coach in DOT’s “Daring to Shift” program, she has played a pivotal role in equipping young Rwandan entrepreneurs with the digital and business skills needed to thrive in the modern world.

How did the Journey Begin ?

Claudine’s internship with DOT Rwanda through the Community Leadership pillar of Daring to Shift project funded by Global Affair Canada to supports young women and men to become leaders in their communities through real-world placements where they run skills development programs in their own communities, it opened up new doors of opportunity for her. she gained valuable knowledge and skills about entrepreneurship and coaching, enabling her to perform her tasks efficiently. However, it wasn’t just about the skills. What truly made a difference was the network of entrepreneurs she became a part of. In particular, Claudine found a sense of camaraderie and shared experience among the women she trained. Together, they tackled their fears, nurtured their self-esteem, and engaged in open discussions about their businesses. This supportive environment fostered the exchange of ideas, mutual learning, and the discovery of growth opportunities.

Technology as a Catalyst

As a graduate of Computer Engineering, Claudine had always been passionate about teaching and supporting entrepreneurs in leveraging technology for their businesses. Little did she know that this passion would become even more crucial during the pandemic. COVID-19 wreaked havoc on countless businesses, but those who had embraced technology adoption found a lifeline. Claudine recognized the immense potential of technology to help businesses recover and have hope for tomorrow. Her experience with DOT further solidified her belief in the transformative power of technology, and she made it her mission to maximize the visibility of her own business and those she worked with through the use of digital tools.

Building Confidence and Connections

Working closely with DOT not only provided Claudine with knowledge and skills, but it also played a significant role in building her trust, confidence, and networking abilities. The support she received, both emotionally and financially, enabled her to make significant strides in her entrepreneurial journey. Claudine was able to secure capital to invest and expand her business, thanks to a stipend provided by DOT. With her newfound resources, she established a physical office and created job opportunities for others. The ripple effect of her success extended beyond her own venture, as the entrepreneurs she trained also began to thrive and reach new heights. The impact of DOT’s support was truly remarkable.
